Recently we brought you a story about Renault-Nissan planning to increase production capacity from 2 to 4 lakhs after Sunny exports begin. Now this is just a part of the story as many other global giants are also willing to adopt a similar strategy. Ssangyong, a Mahindra & Mahindra owned Korean automobile manufacturer, is yet to launch its two major SUVs, Ssangyong Rexton and Ssangyong Korando, and it is being said that the same could opt India as its next major manufacturing and export hub. Here is an interesting news emerging from General Motors' stable. If believing in the report, GM is planning to launch a new SUV in the Indian market and what's so interesting about it, is the fact that it will be positioned below the 2012 Chevrolet Captiva, showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo. Chevrolet announced its plans of introducing the new Captiva in 2012 but the new piece of information raises a couple of doubts on where the new Trailblazer SUV will be positioned and what price tag will it carry. The new Captiva features a 2.2 litre turbodiesel engine mated to a 6 speed automatic transmission. First it were the overwhelming reactions Mahindra & Mahindra received at the launch of Mahindra XUV500 and now it is the sales figures that are driving the brand crazy. Remember we reported that Mahindra is going to reopen XUV500 bookings, well it has happened and surprisingly the company has received enough bookings to maintain a smile on Mahindra's face for the next few months. Mahindra reopened the bookings across 19 cities (Mumbai, Delhi, Chennai, Bangalore, Pune, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, Chandigarh / Panchkula, Ludhiana, Jallandhar, Patiala, Kochi, Trivandrum, Calicut, Trissur, Coimbatore, Nagpur and Nasik) on 25th January and as expected the car was a hit yet again and as per the information available it has recorded 5900 bookings in a period of 2 days.
