Do you remember the Land Rover DC100 concept car that was showcased at the 2012 Auto Expo? Well here is an interesting news on the same. As being reported by Autocar.co.uk, Land Rover is planning to build the 2015 Land Rover Defender SUV at Tata's manufacturing headquarters in Pune. Most probably the models to be sold in European markets will be sent back to Britain where the final assembly will take place, and is termed as "reverse CKD operation" as per the firm. This does not come as a surprise since the British major currently produces the Land Rover Freelander in India and exports it to other Asian markets. Volvo 7700 Hybrid Bus To Run On Bangalore Roads Soon–New Generation Of Eco-Friendly Buses

The time when diesel and CNG buses used to do duty on roads is gone and the next generation of eco-friendly buses are here to take the charge. Volvo, one of the leading premium bus manufacturer, is soon going to bring its new hybrid bus to India's IT capital, Bangalore. Volvo 7700 hybrid, unveiled at the 2012 Auto Expo earlier this month, is soon going to hit Bangalore roads and this has been confirmed by Karnataka Transport Minister R.Ashoka. Initially the bus will run on a trial basis for a period of two months after which it could be deployed permanently. It can accommodate 105 persons at once and incurs significantly less running costs. Maruti Suzuki Reports 38.9 % Fall In Net Profit From Apr-Dec 2011 YOY

Maruti Suzuki India Limited has reported a fall in its net profiles by a steep 38.9% from the period of April to December 2011 compared to the same period in year 2010. There has been a drop in domestic sales by about 16% in this period constituting a sales about 6.85 Lakh of cars comparing to 8.2 lakh cars sold in same period in 2010. The Company registered Net Sales (net of excise) of Rs. 235, 210 Million, a decline of 10.4 per cent over same period in the previous year. Maruti Suzuki India Q3 Report The Company registered Net Sales (net of excise) of Rs. 76,636 Million, a decline of 17.4 per cent over same period in the previous year. Net Profit during the quarter stood at Rs 2,056 Million, a fall of 63.6 per cent. During the Quarter, the Company sold 211, 803 units in the domestic market as compared to 299, 527 units same period previous year.. In exports, the Company sold 27, 725 units against 31,160 units in the previous year. For a while General Motors was struggling hard to get the position it once used to enjoy every year, of the number one car seller globally. In the meantime Toyota and Volkswagen group were said to be recording enough sales to bring them closer to the top position. Recently Volkswagen was reported to be selling more cars annually than Toyota making it a tough competitor but the official count is out and GM is back to the top spot leaving Toyota and Volkswagen behind. GM has regained the crown for world's top selling automaker replacing the Toyota Motor Corp, which was crowned top selling automaker in 2011. The Tata Motors Group global wholesales, including Jaguar Land Rover, were 114,920 nos., in December 2011, higher by 27% over December 2010. First it was Maruti Suzuki that increased the prices of its cars and then recently it was Chevrolet who did the same and now the third brand to enter the price hike spree is Nissan. Nissan has announced a marginal price hike for its products including Nissan Micra small car and Nissan Sunny sedan. While for the Micra the price hike is valid for both diesel and petrol variants, the price hike for Sunny is only applicable on the petrol version and the Nissan Sunny diesel remains untouched. The price of Micra Petrol, including all three variants, will go up by Rs. 3000 while for Micra Diesel, including the two variants, the price will go up by Rs. 12,000. During the last week of December 2011 we had reported that Jaguar and Land Rover a.k.a JLR will be showcasing their respective concept products at the 2012 Auto Expo. Keeping their promise they have done so and to start with we will talk about Jaguar C-X16. The C-X16 is Jaguar's latest concept sports car and carries the company's traditional front-engined, rear wheel drive formula. The same formula has been reiterated for this concept car and the end result is a performance oriented hybrid drivetrain with 50:50 weight distribution.
